Dow jones industrial average (DJIA)

A stock price index, based on 30 prominent stocks, that is a commonly used indicator of general trends in the prices of stocks and bonds in the United States. Currently these stocks are: 3M Company, Altria Group, American Express, American International Group, AT&T, Boeing, Caterpillar, Citigroup, Coca Cola, DuPont, Exxon Mobil, General Electric, General Motors, Hewlett Packard, Home Depot, Honeywell, Intel, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, JP Morgan Chase, McDonald’s, Merck, Microsoft, Pfizer, Procter & Gamble, United Technologies, Verizon, Wal-Mart and Walt Disney.
